Distilled at Caroni in 1998 and bottled by Cadenhead\u2019s in November 2019, this 21-year-old Trinidad rum was released at a formidable 61.6% ABV.<\/p>\n
Only 240 bottles were produced, making this an exceptionally scarce independent bottling from one of the most sought-after closed rum distilleries in the world.<\/p>\n
Cadenhead\u2019s bottled it with the intensity intact. The official notes describe cinnamon, toffee and cloves on the nose, followed by banana flamb\u00e9, mango and pineapple, before a long finish of tobacco leaf, menthol sweets and gentle wood smoke.<\/p>\n
At full strength, this is a forceful and concentrated Caroni rather than a polished commercial style. A few drops of water may open the fruit and spice, but it should be approached slowly.
